Nailed It: Crystal French manicure
Welcome to Nailed It, where we get into how to do at-home manicures (whether they’re successful or not).
Maybe it’s because “Euphoria” is back or maybe it’s because I didn’t get around to trying the fun holiday nails of my dreams, but I started the year itching to try a sparkling new mani style.
These little crystalized French tips were harder than they seemed, and I’m still finding crystals around my apartment that popped off during the week or that stuck to my body and my bed while trying to create this nail look.
But the hard work was worth it. I instantly felt like the baddie I know I can be – one step away from reenrolling as a high school student, this time at “Euphoria” high.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
A base coat (I used Essie)
A sheer light pink nail polish (I used two coats of Cirque Colors polish in Georgette)
An opaque white nail polish (I used Olive and June polish in HD)
Nail art brushes (The set I used is from Amazon)
Crystals! (Also got this set from Amazon, which came with little tweezers to place them. I used size 8)
Top coat (I used an Essie one)
Clean-up brush (Mine is also Olive and June)
Nail polish remover
HOW TO DO IT
After cleaning, shaping and buffing your nails, paint a thin layer of your base coat.
Paint two to three thin layers of your sheer light pink polish, giving each layer a few minutes to dry.
Using your white polish (and your nail art brush if you’re like me and aren’t yet savvy enough to just use the bottle brush), paint a curved line at the top of your nail, mirroring the tip of your real nail.
Dip your clean-up brush in nail polish remover and use it to touch up any areas around your nails with errant polish.
Going nail by nail, paint a top coat and then place your crystals where you want them on the nail, lightly pressing them into the top coat.
Let dry – then sparkle hunny!
